Exhibition Details
The Illustrated Memoir Project positions immigrant and refugee youth as the authors of their own stories and provides a platform on which they can share their lived experience and unique ways of knowing the world.
In 2025, the group traveled to the Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Isingiro District, Uganda to work with 44 young people there. The project participants created beautiful and poignant memoirs, a selection of which are shared in this exhibit.
The Illustrated Memoir Project believes reading these memoirs can change the way the global community conceives of refugees, foster greater understanding of different people and cultures, and create a more welcoming and vibrant world.
To learn more about the project, purchase copies of the memoirs, or make a donation to support this work and help us to serve more young people, please scan the QR code below to visit our website, Illustrated Memoir Project.
