Public Programs

The Contemporary Art Center's inaugural exhibition, Modern Paintings from Cincinnati Collections, in 1939, began a tradition of highlighting local collectors and their collections. Taking its name from a 1962 exhibition, the Cincinnati Collects program breaks down the barriers between private collections and the public. New and established artists are highlighted through resources for the community and teachers, and the love of collecting is seen with new eyes. Whether it be art, rocks, or found objects, collecting increases appreciation and understanding. And, by bringing these privately-held collections into the public realm, and building interpretive resources, we can create a more inclusive experience for everyone involved.

Public Programming will be held through digital platforms until furthur notice, at which point programs will begin in person with a limited capacity and increased sterilization. This decision ultimately comes down to our belief that we have a duty to you, our visitors, staff, fellow community members and friends, to think first about your health and the health of the city we live in. At this time Makerspace will merge with Family Festival to create one science and arts based festival. Additionally, you can check out the Learn tab of the website for Makerspace inspired lesson plans that you can do at home.
