Exhibition Details
Maketank Inc’s Illustrated Memoir Project engages English language learner students to tell stories from their lives in words and images. Each participant writes some true story from their life and then creates original illustrations to support that story. Through the process of creating their memoirs participants can increase multimodal literacies, enhance social emotional learning, and develop intellectual self-trust. The completed illustrated memoirs are shared locally and globally as open educational resources. These works of art increase understanding of different people’s lived experience and ways of knowing and seeing the world in the hopes of fostering a more welcoming and vibrant community.
Join us for the opening celebration on September 14 from 5-7pm.
