Underworld Black Arts Festival and Rush Arts Foundation
In coordination with The Underworld Black Arts Festival, a selection of prints from Rush Arts 25thAnniversary Print Portfolio are featured in the CAC’s P&G Gallery. The Philadelphia-based Rush Arts Foundation provides exhibition opportunities to emerging artists and curators of color and supports a host of educational programming that exposes and immerses inner-city youth in the study and practice of the arts. Co-founded by artist, poet, and philanthropist Danny Simmons, Rush Arts has exhibited such artists as Kehinde Wiley, Simone Leigh, Hank Willis Thomas, Dread Scott, Sanford Biggers, and Renee Cox.
The Rush Arts 25th Anniversary Print Portfolio presents exclusive prints of works by 12 artists, six of whom are included in this exhibition. The Portfolio commemorates this vital artistic history and captures Rush Arts’ ongoing, energetic support of bold new artwork for new audiences. The portfolio was produced by Brooklyn Editions, one of New York's premier printmaking studios, under owner and master printer Stephen Gross.
