Abrilijoanna Huerta is a contemporary illustrator, comic artist, and screen printer based in Cincinnati. Known by the alias - GoreCat - Huerta specializes in horror, sci-fi, and punk themed artwork. Huerta is active across an array of community organizations working on diverse issues from supporting climate change and sustainability, to advocating for women's equality, to celebrating her cultural ancestry as a co-organizer of the Hispanic Heritage Festival and Expo. Huerta will be facilitating this workshop as a culminating experience to her participation in the 2024 Urban Printers cohort with Tiger Lily Press.
Educators will receive a private tour of the Tiger Lily Press: Urban Printers exhibition, led by the artist. Following the tour, teachers will take part in a hands-on application of a print-themed lesson plan to take back to the classroom.
Brunch and mimosas will be provided from 10:30-11:00. Educators are welcome to use this time for networking. Workshops are open to teachers, community-based arts educators, and pre-service students. Non-members $5.00; CAC Members and pre-service educators are free. Space is limited and reservations are required. The tour will start promptly at 11:00 am.
