Artist-In-Residence: Kateri Sparrow

Sparrow is an interdisciplinary artist, partial to recycling materials with a focus on sustainable practice. No matter what medium Sparrow is working with, the same themes arise, respect for our Earth and of botanical re-integration in everyday life. For the past 5 years she has been working closely with heirloom native plants of the Midwest and exploring the overlap between clay mixing and soil building. Throughout her residency she hopes to assist in the facilitation of loving connections between CAC visitors and our mother earth. As the artist behind the Creativity Center’s sixth floor Growing Garden, Sparrow plans to engage this living space within the gallery and activate the museum’s outdoor urban planters through her residency period.
