rest, here, now.
a play created & directed by SLiNK love
This immersive event, organized by the artist SLiNK love, is an attempt to demonstrate how rest is a lifestyle. This lifestyle can serve as an entry point to understanding and embodying contemporary political resistance.
The format of this ‘play’ embodies both the theatrical and active verb definition of the word; the layout is an amalgamation of works by the diverse Cincinnati creative community. Performers are throughout the audience, further breaking down the fourth wall, with the artists and their work subjectively responding in sync to the choreographed music. The goal of this showcase is to organically bridge the gaps between the larger public, creativity and rest as academic theory, and the embodied reality of those who have made creativity and rest a lifestyle.
SLiNK has partnered with circus performers, magicians, pole dancers, vintage collectors, 2D and 3D artists, musicians, and two academic institutions.
This two part piece begins with Scene 1 inside the CAC on Friday October 13th, with Scene 2 following on Sunday, October 15th in the Annex of UC DAAP. Registration through Eventbrite is recommended.
Both Scene 1 and Scene 2 are part of the research project 'Peace: Embodied Practices towards Peace and Justice’ at the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. More information about the project will be available at the event.
