Join Artist in Residence Jeni Jenkins every Friday in the CAC lobby for collaborative art making and discussion.

The theme of the residency is TOGETHERNESS, which Jenkins uses as an umbrella for exploring issues related to prejudice, identity, relationships, community, belonging and stereotypes. Her main objective is to inspire people to be activists, advocates and supporters of radical, collective social change.

Jeni Jenkins Artist Bio

As a socially engaged artist invested in enabling positive social impact by extending her practice into public spaces, Jeni Jenkins aspires to transform lives and communities through art.

Jenkins holds a B.S. in Social Science from Boise State University, with minors in Psychology, Sociology, and Fine Art, and two masters degrees from the University of Cincinnati M.A. in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies as well as an MFA the School of Art at the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning.

Jenkins current practice interweaves assemblages of printmaking, collage, text, and illustration to confront the impact of the settler colonial regime on colonized bodies; construct visual identity narratives that protest injustice; subvert power; facilitate narrative shifts; and invoke empathy.

Informed by critical theories, Jenkins’s work incisively explores the physical and symbolic properties of American historical and cultural artifacts to investigate and expose the materiality of oppressive systems.
