Ava Wanbli, Sertraline Dolls
Organized by Rainbow as part of Artist-Run Spaces
Sertraline Dolls is a performance work that centers the experience of transwomen sex workers within virtual spaces. Ava Wanbli performs with a reformed body made through 3D printing; the body is her old gender, self, and consciousness. She examines how virtuality exists in performative states of physical intimacy. Wanbli is a Chicago-based new media performance artist that utilizes game engineering, 3D scanning, video, and performance to reconstruct dynamics of spectacle and intimacy through eroticized mediations of the body.
