December-February Artist in Residence: Macartney Greer
Macartney Greer is a Cincinnati artist and self-proclaimed pity party extraordinaire. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts through DAAP at the University of Cincinnati, and focusing mainly in printmaking and illustration with her studies.
Greer’s practice is rooted in the idea of taking a negative, and using art, to dressing it up as a positive. Using printmaking, illustration, performance, installation and beyond, Greer attempts to use an array of mediums to best represent her ideas. Inspired by her memories and current qualms, Greer’s work aspires to cope while caking itself in humor, confetti, and quite literally—cake.
During the Artist In Residence program, Macartney Greer wishes to navigate open conversations of mental health and celebrate the mundane and negative. Visitors will be able to take part in the construction of random celebrations, reimagining traditional sketchbooks, and making cathartic work while having fun.
