Join us for a special program with Taft Museum of Art Assistant Curator Tamera Muente and Contemporary Arts Center Curator Steven Matijcio. Drawing upon both celebrated and much lesser known artworks from the Taft’s collection, Muente and Matijcio will discuss how paintings by British artist Glenn Brown in the CAC’s current exhibition are both rooted in and deviate from the traditions of old masters. They will discuss how “copying” has long been an artistic strategy, how beauty and decay are expressed in painting, and the evolving conventions of portraiture.
