Composer/electric guitarist Noveller, synthpop chanteuse Glasser, and new classical chamber ensemble Victoire join forces to explore the sonic intersections of woman and machine, manipulation and composition.
Missy Mazzoli, founder of Victoire, composes diverse, hypnotic pieces that encompass indie rock, meditative electronics, and classical minimalism. The ensemble is composed of five players featuring Mazolli (keyboard), Olivia De Prato (violin), Eileen Mack (clarinet), Lorna Krier (keyboards) and Eleonore Oppenheim (double bass). Named “an all-star, all-female quintet” by Timeout New York, Victoire performs Mazzoli’s distinct blend of dreamy post rock, quirky minimalism and rich romanticism.
Cameron Mesirow, or Glasser, combines synthetic organic sounds, real drums and strings with a programmed music backdrops. Her smooth voice is highlighted by the rhythmic melodies generating a soundscape that’s packed tight but never feels crowded.
Sarah Lipstate of Noveller, a solo guitarist, handles her instrument as a muse. Her music blurs perception of reality in the midst of sweeping sound effects that accompany her guitar. The motion of her sounds, covering a broad spectrum, emphasizes the hyper reality of her brilliant compositions.
“Victoire condense moments of focused beauty and quiet conviction from the pandemic distractions of modern life” – Pitchfork (about Victoire)
“Glasser manages to communicate the unknowable - in the way her meticulously arranged soundscapes convey a sense of place even when their literal meaning might be just out of grasp.” – Pitchfork (about Glasser)
“Sarah Lipstate creates miniature musical worlds, places that you feel like you’ll never leave long as the record is and multifaceted that it seems to be alive.” – Time Out New York (about Noveller)
