“They [the artists in this exhibition] have assembled the first major collection of art expressing a political and social point of view since the Social Realists’ exhibits of the nineteen-thirties” (JSM, Richard J. Daley). This show was conceived as a protest show when Claes Oldenburg cancelled his show at the Richard Feigen Gallery.
