Croz Boyce (pronounced Croz Boys) is Animal Collective’s Dave Portner (Avey Tare) and Brian Weitz (Geologist) new instrumental duo. Talk Low Music Festival is thrilled to welcome the duo to Cincinnati for a 09.26 performance at the Contemporary Arts Center.
Their debut self-titled album is a series of nine tracks featuring a blend of electric and acoustic string instruments, synthesizers, and percussion, with additional mixing by Animal Collective’s Josh Dibb (Deakin) and mastering by Taylor Deupree and was released 05.08 on Domino Records.
What if 40 minutes of instrumental music made by two friends passing files across state lines could capture the range of human experience, or at least a disproportionate chunk of it—worry and camaraderie, hope and frustration, tenderness and absurdity? That is the question that steadily emerges across the nine tracks of the self-titled debut from Croz Boyce, the duo of two musicians who have made some of the last quarter-century’s most inquisitive music, Dave Portner (Avey Tare) and Brian Weitz (Geologist) of Animal Collective.
More Eaze is the project of Brooklyn-based sound artist and multi-instrumentalist Mari Maurice. Ranging from ambient pop to folk and musique concrete, her numerous solo and collaborative releases weave mundane, everyday sounds, acoustic orchestration and instrumentation, and electronics into adventurous textural compositions. Her music explores themes of intimacy, yearning, Americana, and the transformation of abstract feeling into intense living through compositions that move seamlessly between the banal and the ethereal. She has recently released work with Thrill Jockey, 15 Love, Longform Editions, Leaving Records, Ecstatic, and Orange Milk. Her work as a string arranger, pedal steel player, and producer has recently been featured on recordings by Martha Skye Murphy, Water Damage, Lomelda, Fashion Club, Claire Rousay, Space Afrika and Rainy Miller, and Nick Zanca amongst others. She regularly performs in the duos Pink Must (w/ Lynn Avery) and whait (w/ Wendy Eisenberg).
Pomme Pom is an experimental project from David Corns and Rae Fisher using vocals and synths to make long, soft, compositions.
