CAC's curator at large Amara Antilla received a @teigerfoundation grant as part of its inaugural Call for Proposals to support "The Heresies Generation: Feminism, Art, and Politics, 1977-1992."
Emerging from downtown Manhattan, the Heresies collective and journal, were focal points for discussions around identity, representation, and intersectional feminisms from the 1970s through the early 1990s. Amara Antilla’s project will be the first exhibition to investigate the significance and impact of the publication and the artists and activist that it catalyzed.
Amara Antilla is among 39 curators and curatorial teams throughout the U.S. to receive a grant through the Foundation’s Call for Proposals, the first initiative of its kind to address the full spectrum of curatorial activities, from community integration of traveling exhibitions, to research and the development of major exhibitions.
