Famed British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, 65, who designed the Lois and Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Arts, more commonly known as the Contemporary Arts Center in downtown Cincinnati, died Thursday in Miami, according to published reports.

Hadid was named a finalist to design the internationally renowned building on Sixth Street in 1997.

She suffered a heart attack while being treated for bronchitis in a hospital. In 2004, Hadid became the first woman to win the Pritzker Prize, the top honor in architecture, which recognizes a living architect whose works produce "consistent and significant contributions to humanity."
