A book documenting Matt Morris' exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Center with new commissioned writing by prominent art thinkers.
"Hi, my name is Matt Morris. I’m an artist, writer, and sometimes curator based in Chicago. In partnership with the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) in Cincinnati, OH, I am fundraising to produce a book that will compliment my upcoming exhibition entitled “The Perfect Kiss (QQ)* *questioning, queer,” which opens on May 15, 2015 and continues through October 11, 2015. While history can be changed in the spaces of museums and galleries, it is recorded in books and other discursive tools. It can be difficult for institutions like the CAC to afford the expense and effort involved to produce books, but as the themes and purposes of this exhibition aim to consider how archives and art historical narratives are constructed and maintained, it is important to us to make a book that not only documents the exhibition but also commissions new, thoughtful pieces of writing that investigate these topics by CAC Curator Steven Matijcio and the curatorial project Triple Candie who created a smart, funny exploration of Byars in an exhibition in Detroit last year, with other contributors yet to be announced."
