Vicky Alexander was born in 1959 in Victoria, Canada. She received her BFA in 1979 from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, Canada. Alexander has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including Vikky Alexander, Galerie Brenda Wallace, Montréal, QC (1989); Vikky Alexander: The West Edmonton Mall Series, Surrey Art Gallery, Surrey, BC (2004); Vikky Alexander: The Spoils of the Park, Canada House, London, UK (2018); and Between Dreaming and Living, PHOTO OP, Auckland, New Zealand (2023). She has also participated in many group exhibitions, including New New York, Cleveland Center for Contemporary Art, Cleveland, OH (1986); The Experience of Landscape, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY (2000); Unreal, Vancouver Art Gallery, Vancouver, BC (2011); and Objects of Desire: Photography and the Language of Advertising, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA (2022). Alexander currently lives and works in Montreal, Canada.
