Valerie Belin was born in 1964 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. She graduated in 1985 from École Beaux-arts de Versailles, from École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Bourges in 1988, and from Université de Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne in 1989. Belin has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at Musée de Picardie, Amiens, France (1999); Brancolini Grimaldi Arte Contemporanea, Rome, Italy (2007); Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow, Russia (2013); and The Victoria & Albert Museum, London, UK (2019). She has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Mutations//mode 1960-2000, Musée Galliera, Paris, France (2000); A New Reality: Black and White Photography in Contemporary Art, The Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum, New Brunswick, NJ (2007); Civilization: The Way We Live Now, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, South Korea (2018); and Les Choses: La nature morte de la Préhistoire à nos jours, Musée du Louvre, Paris, France (2020). Belin currently lives and works in Paris, France.
