Troy Brauntuch was born in 1954 in Jersey City, NJ. He received his BFA in 1975 from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA. He has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at The Kitchen, New York, NY (1979); Centre National d’Art Contemporain, Grenoble, France (2007); and Kunstparterre Münich, Münich, Germany (2011). He has also participated in various group exhibitions, including Figures of Mystery, Queens Museum, Queens, NY (1982); Springtide, Institute of Contemporary Art, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA (2005); Several Silences, Knoxville Museum of Art, Knoxville, TN (2012); and Where Art Might Happen: The Early Years of Cal Arts, Kunsthaus Graz, Graz, Austria (2020). Brauntuch currently lives and works in Austin,TX.
