Biography
Performance artist Tehching Hsieh was born in 1950 in Nanzhou Township, Taiwan. He has been the subject os many solo exhibitions, including at the Centro de Arte Helio Oiticica, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2002); Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (2009); and Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing, China (2013). He has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Tempus Fugit: Time Flies, The Nelson–Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO (2000); Camera/Action: Performance and Photography, The Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, IL (2004); The Third Mind: American Artists Contemplate Asia, 1860-1989, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY (2009); Life Itself, Modern Museet, Stockholm, Sweden (2016); and Confinement: Politics of Space and Bodies, Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (2019). Hsieh currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
