Artist Details
Stan Douglas was born in 1960 in Vancouver, Canada. He graduated in 1982 from Emily Carr College of Art in Vancouver, Canada. Douglas has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume, Paris, France (1991); Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin, Germany (2001); Mongin Art Center, Seoul, South Korea (2009); and De Pont Museum of Contemporary Art, Tilburg, The Netherlands (2023). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Songs of Experience, National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, Canada (1986); A Notion of Conflict: A Selection of Contemporary Canadian Art,Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (1995); Haunted: Contemporary Photography/Video/Performance, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY (2010); and Bohemia: History of an Idea, 1950-2000, Kunsthalle Praha, Prague, Czech Republic (2023). Douglas currently lives and works between Los Angeles, CA and Vancouver, Canada.
