Writer, photographer, and installation artist Sophie Calle was born in 1953 in Paris, France. Calle has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at Fashion Mode, The Bronx, NY (1980); Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, The Netherlands (1994); Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín, Medellín, Colombia (2012); and Musée National Picasso, Paris, France (2023). She has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Du Livre, Musée des Beaux-Arts, Rouen, France (1982); Fool’s Rain, Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, UK (1996); Introducing the Fisher Collection, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA (2010); and Responsibility to Reveal, Akron Art Museum, Akron, OH (2022). Calle currently lives and works in Malakoff, France.
