Sonia Delaunay-Terk was born in 1885 in Hradyz'k, Ukraine. She attended the Akademie Der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe, Germany and the Académie de La Palette in Paris, France. Her work has recently been shown at Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Venice, Italy (2002); The Museum of Sketches for Public Art, Lund, Sweden (2007); and Kunsthalle Bielefeld, Bielefeld, Germany (2008). Recent group exhibitions featuring her work include Encounters With Modern Art: Works from the Rothschild Family Collections, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA (1997); Russisch Paris, Von der Heydt Museum, Wuppertal, Germany (2003); The Persistence of Geometry, Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland, OH (2006); and Inventing Abstraction, Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (2012). Delaunay-Terk died in 1979 in Paris, France.
