SIMPARCH is an art collaboration formed in 1996. The collective is maintained by co-founding members Steven Badgett and Matt Lynch that creates large-scale interactive artwork playing upon themes of travel, leisure, frontier myths and popular culture.
Steve Badgett was born in 1962 in Illinois. He received a BFA in 1985 from the University of Illinois, Champaign, IL. He currently lives and works in Chicago, IL. Matt Lynch was born in 1969 in Indiana. He received a BFA Ball State University, Muncie, IN in 1992 and an MFA Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY in 1995. He currently lives and works in Cincinnati, OH. SIMPARCH has participated in many exhibitions, including L’Arche, Ecole Nationale d’Art, Cergy, France (1998); Free Basin, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, CA (2004); and Out There: Architecture Beyond Building, Venice Biennale of Architecture, Venice, Italy (2008).
Steve Rowell was born in Houston, TX. He received a BA in Studio Art from University of Texas at Austin, Austin, TX and an MFA from University of Oxford, Oxford, UK. Rowell currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
