Artist Details
Sharon Ellis was born in 1955 in Great Lakes, IL. She received her BFA in 1978 from University of California in Irvine, CA and her MFA in 1984 from Mills College in Oakland, CA. She has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including at the Long Beach Museum of Art, Long Beach, CA (1996); Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (2002); and Rio Hondo College Art Gallery, Whittier, CA (2008). She has also participated in several group exhibitions, including California North and South, Aspen Art Museum, Aspen, CO (1992); Departures: Eleven Artists at the Getty, The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, CA (2000); Eden’s Edge: Art in L.A., The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA (2007); and Explode Everyday: An Inquiry into the Phenomena of Wonder, Museum of Contemporary Art, North Adams, MA (2016). Ellis currently lives and works in Yucca Valley, CA.
