Artist Details
Rupert Deese was born in 1924 in Hagåtña, Guam. He received a BFA in 1950 from Pomona College and an MFA in 1957 from Claremont Graduate School, both in Claremont, CA. Deese has been included in many exhibitions, including at Scripps College Art Museum, Claremont, CA (1950-57); Everson Museum, Syracuse, New York, NY (1960); Craft and Folk Art Museum, Los Angeles, CA (1996); and Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA (2011). Deese died in 2010 in Claremont, CA.
