"Royden Cartwright is . . . a Professor of Art at the University of Cincinnati. Born in 1937, he received his M.F.A. degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology. In the past ten years he has participated in numerous exhibitions including a Group Show at the Nordness Gallery, New York. Examples of his work are found in the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Johnson Collection of American Crafts. With his recent work, Royden Cartwright believes that he has been working with more "concise color and form" possibly as "an outgrowth of working in a manner more closely allied with the abstract expressionists" (Beaven, Cartwright, French catalog).
