Roy Cartwright received a BFA in Ceramics in 1961 from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA and an MFA in Ceramics in 1963 from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. Cartwright has been the subject of various solo exhibitions and installation, including at Mt. Airy Forest, Cincinnati, OH (1977); University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY (1987); Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (1991); and Carnegie Art Center, Covington, KY (1992). He has also participated in many group exhibitions, including National Invitational Ceramics Exhibition, Kohler Art Center, Sheboygan, WI (1973); Fourteen Cincinnati Artists, Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (1976); and New Formations: Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture, Carnegie Art Center, Covington, KY (1990).
