Ross Bleckner was born in 1949 in New York, NY. He received a BA in 1971 from New York University New York, NY and an MFA from California Institute of the Arts in Santa Clarita, CA. He has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee, WI (1989); Esbjerg Art Museum, Esbjerg, Denmark (2004); Dallas Contemporary, Dallas, TX (2017); and Neues Museum, Nuremberg, Germany (2019). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Art at the End of the Social, The Rooseum, Malmo, Sweden (1988); On Canvas: Contemporary Painting, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY (2000); AIDS America, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, Bronx, NY (2016); and My Generation, Die Sammlung Jablonka, The Albertina Museum, Vienna, Austria (2020). Bleckner lives and works in New York, NY.
