Roger Brown was born in 1941 in Hamilton, AL. He received a BFA in 1968 and MFA in 1970, both from School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, IL. Brown has been the subject of several solo and two-person exhibitions, including at St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis, MO (1980); Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum, Santa Barbara, CA (1996); Springfield Art Museum, Springfield, MO (2010); and Museum of Arts and Design, New York, NY (2019). He has also participated in various group exhibitions, including Don Baum Sez Chicago Needs Famous Artists‚ Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL (1969); Contemporary Artists, Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH (1981); Hairy Who (and some others), Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Madison, WI (2007); and Theater of Operations: The Gulf Wars 1991–2011, MOMA PS1, Long Island City, NY (2019). Brown died in 1997 in Atlanta, GA.
