Photographer Robert Doisneau was born in 1912 in Gentilly, France. He graduated in 1929 from Ecole Estienne in Paris, France. He has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the Museum of Modern Art, Chicago, IL (1960); International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House, Rochester, New York, NY (1972); The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, Japan (1987); and Space for Art of Caja Madrid Zaragoza, Madrid, Spain (2010). He has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Six Photographes et Paris, Musée des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, France (1965); and De Vogue à femme, Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie d’Arles, France (1986). Doisneau died in 1994 in Montrouge, France.
