Robert Dilworth was born in 1951. He received his BFA in 1973 from Rhode Island School of Design and his MFA in 1976 from School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Dilworth has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at The Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago, IL (1979); Newport Art Museum, Newport, RI (2006); Klaus Center for the Arts, Marymount California University, San Pedro, CA (2016); and Cade Tompkins Projects, Providence, RI (2022). He has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Black Aesthetics, Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, IL (1981); New Power Generation, Hampton University, Hampton, VA (2002); Be of Love and Other Stories: Contemporary Highlights from the Permanent Collection, Newport Art Museum, Newport, RI (2017); and Call and Response, Newport Art Museum, Newport, RI (2021).
