Artist Details

Biography

Richard Hull was born in 1955 in Oklahoma City, OK. He received his BFA in Kansas City Art Institute in 1977 and his MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1979. He has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at The Arts Club of Chicago, Chicago, IL (2001); Saginaw Valley State University, Saginaw Valley, MI (2006); Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, IL (2016); and Western Exhibitions, Chicago, IL (2023). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Thirty Miles of Art, Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO (1975-77); The Contemporary Arts Center Biennial, Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (1986-87); Modern Shadows, The Painting Center, New York, NY (2003); New Again, UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum, Las Vegas, NV (2013); and The Shape of Light: Contemporary Painting and Studio Glass, Rockford Art Museum, Rockford, IL (2022). Hull currently lives and works in Chicago, IL.
