Fashion photographer Richard Avedon was born in 1923 in New York, NY. He was a staff photographer of Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, and The New Yorker. Avedon's work has been exhibited at Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C (1962); Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY (1978 and 2002); Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Minneapolis, MN (1970); The Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Fort Worth, TX (1985); and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY (1994). Avedon died in 2004 in San Antonio, TX.
