Biography

Rebecca Allan was born in 1962 in Cleveland, OH. She received a BA in 1985 from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA and an MFA in 1989 from Kent State University in Kent, OH. She has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including Rebecca Allan: Whidbey Island Paintings, Museo Gallery, Langley, WA (1996); and Rebecca Allan: New Paintings, 2/20 Gallery, New York, NY (2006); Rebecca Allan: Debris Fields, Anna Kaplan Contemporary, Buffalo, NY (2018). Allan has also participated in many solo exhibitions, including Western New York Artists Exhibition, Castellani Art Museum, Niagara University, Niagara Falls, NY (1986); A Passion for Plants: Before and After Lewis and Clark, Maryhill Museum of Art, Goldendale, WA (2004); All Terrain Vehicle: The Contemporary Landscape, James Gallery, Pittsburgh, PA (2015); and Lavish!: Rebecca Allan, Vallorie Henderson, Erika Strecker, Brian and Sara Turner, Morlan Gallery at Transylvania University, Lexington, KY (2018). Allan currently lives and works in New York.
