Raoul Dufy was born in 1877 in Le Havre, France. He attended the Municipal School of Beaux-Arts in Le Havre, France. Dufy has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA (1939); Musée national d'Art moderne, Paris, France (1953); and Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen, Denmark (1980).. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including La revolte de la couleur, De l'impressionnisme aux avant-gardes, Musee d'Ixelles, Brussels, Belgium (2000); The Modern Woodcut, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Boston, MA (2001); and Destaques do Acervo, Museu de Arte Contemporanea da Universidade de Sae Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil (2008). Dufy died in 1953 in Forcalquier, France.
