Phyllis Bramson was born in 1941 in Madison, WI. She received a BFA in 1962 from University of Illinois in Urbana, IL; an MA in 1963 from University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI; and an MFA in 1963 from School of the Art Institute in Chicago, IL. Bramson has been the subject of several one and two-person exhibitions, including at The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, NY (1993); Fort Wayne Museum, Fort Wayne, IN (2013); and Boulder Art Museum, Bolder, CO (2020). He has also participated in various group exhibitions, including Objects as Poet, The Smithsonian Institute, Washington, DC (1997); Chicago/Chicago, Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (2000); Personal Metaphors, Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, MO (2012); and Distorted Figuration, Evanston Art Center, Evanston, IL (2021). Bramson currently lives and works in Chicago, IL.
