Philip Kwame Apagya

Biography

Photographer Philip Kwame Apagypa was born in 1958 in Takoradi, Ghana. He studied photojournalism at the Ghana institute of Journalism. He has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including Berlin Portraits by Philip Kwame Apagya, Goethe Institute, Accra, Ghana and Ghana National Museum, Accra, Ghana (2002). He has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Snap me one! Studio Photographers in Africa, City Museum in Munich, Munich, Germany (1998); No Border, Museo della città di Ravenna, Ravenna, Italy (2002); African Art Now: Masterpieces from the Jean Pigozzi Collection, Museum of Fine Art Houston, Houston, TX (2005); and Images, Festival des Arts Visuels de Vevey, Vevey, Switzerland (2012). Apagypa currently lives and works in Shama, Ghana.
