Artist Details
Philip Hanson was born in 1943. He received his BA in 1965 from The University of Chicago and his MFA in 1968 from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including at the Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, IL; llinois and Freeport Art Museum, Freeport, IL (1985-86); and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL (2003). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Don Baum sez "Chicago Needs Famous Artists," Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL (1968); Chicago Currents: The Koffler Foundation, National Collection of Fine Arts, National Collection of Fine Arts, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC (1979-80); Chicago Imagism: A 25 Year Survey, Davenport Museum of Art, Davenport, IA (1995); and Chicago Imagists, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Madison, WI (2011). Hanson currently lives and works in Chicago, IL.
