Performance artist and film director Patty Chang was born in 1972 in San Leandro, CA. She received her BFA in 1994 from the University of California in San Diego, CA. Chang has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, Spain (2000); Baltic Art Center, Visby, Sweden (2001); Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA (2005); and Bowdoin College Museum of Art, Brunswick, Maine (2008). She has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, North Adams, MA (2002); Only Skin Deep: Changing Visions of the American Self, International Center of Photography, New York, NY (2003); Family Pictures, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY (2007); and New Directors/New Film Festival, Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (2008). Chang currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
