Painter Pat Adams was born in 1928 in Stockton, CA. She received a BFA in Painting from University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, CA in 1949. She was also involved in programs at California College of Arts and Crafts, San Francisco, CA in 1945, the College of the Pacific, Stockton, CA in 1946 and the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL in 1948. Adams has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at Korman Gallery, New York, NY (1954); Columbia Museum of Art, Columbia, SC (1982); the National Association of Women Artists, New York, NY (2011); and Alexandre Gallery, New York, NY (2020 and 2022). She has also participated in various group exhibitions, including Paintings and Sculpture Annual, Oakland Art Museum, Oakland, CA (1948); Inaugural Exhibition, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C. (1974); The Abstract Impulse: Fifty Years of Abstraction at the Academy, 1956-2006, National Academy Museum, New York, NY (2007); and In Residence, The Hood Museum of Art, Hanover, NH (2014).
Adams currently lives and works in Bennington, VT.
