Biography

Njideka Akunyili Crosby was born in 1983 in Enugu, Nigeria. She received a BA from Swarthmore College in 2004 in Swarthmore, PA and MFA from Yale University in 2011 in New Haven, CT. She has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including I Still Face You, Franklin Art Works, Minneapolis, MN (2013); Portals, Victoria Miro, London, UK (2016); FOCUS: Njideka Akunyili Crosby | Counterparts, The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, TX and Njideka Akunyili Crosby: The Beautyful Ones, National Portrait Gallery, London, UK (both 2018). She has also participated in various group exhibitions, including Draped Down, The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, NY (2014); KALEIDOSCOPE: A Moment of Grace, Modern Art Oxford, Oxford, UK (2016); and Dirty Protest: Selections from the Hammer Contemporary Collection, Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2019).
