Painter and sculptor Nicole Eisenman was born in 1965 in Verdun, France. She received her BFA in 1987 from Rhode Island School of Design in providence, RI. She has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the Central Museum Utrecht, Utrecht, The Netherlands (1995); The Tang Museum, Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY (2009); The New Museum, New York, NY (2016); and Museum Brandhorst, Munich, Germany (2023). She has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Bad Girls, Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, UK (1993); The Paper Sculpture Show, The Sculpture Center, Queens, NY (2003); The Air We Breath, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA (2011); and Before Tomorrow, Astrup Fearnley Museet, Oslo, Norway (2023). Eisenman currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
