Biography

Painter, writer, and costume and set designer Natalia Goncharova was born in 1881 in Chernsky Uyezd, Russia. She has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at The State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia (2002); Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (2003); Mead Art Museum, Amherst, MA (2006); Angermuseum Erfurt, Erfurt, Germany (2010). She has also participated in various group exhibitions, including Amazons of The Avant-Garde, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York City, NY (2000); In dienst van Diaghilev, Groninger Museum, Groningen, The Netherlands (2004); Love! Art! Passion!, Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, The Hague, The Netherlands (2009); and El Cubismo, Cubism and its context, Musée d'Ixelles, Brussels, Belgium (2010). Goncharova died in 1962 in Paris, France.
