Artist Details
Painter and sculptor Nassos Daphnis was born in 1914 in Krokees, Greece. He graduated in 1949 from the Art Students League in New York, NY and in 1952 from Institute Statale Dell'Arte in Florence, Italy. Daphnis has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the Mint Museum, Charlotte, NC (1949); Brockton Art Center, Brockton, MA (1970); Boca Raton Museum of Art, Boca Raton, FL; The Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, OH (1993); and Daphnis Studio, New York, NY (2011). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Painting in the United States, 1947, Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, PA (1947); Motion and Movement, Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (1964); Modern Odysseys-Greek American Artists of the 20th Century, Queens Museum, New York, NY (1999); and Couples/Duos, Provincetown Art Association and Museum, Provincetown, MA (2014). Daphnis died in 2010 in Provincetown, MA.
