Artist Details
Sculpture and land artist Nancy Holt was born in 1938 in Worcester, MA. She graduated from Tufts University in 1960. Holt has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at the Fine Art Center, University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI (1973); Saginaw Art Museum, Saginaw, MI (1981); Montpelier Cultural Arts Center, Laurel, MD (1989); Badischer Kunstverein, Karlsruhe, Germany (2011); and Bildmuseet, Umeå, Sweden (2022). She has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Video Art USA, Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (1975); Post Minimalism, Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield, CT (1982); Present and Futures: Architecture in Cities, Centro de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain (1996); California Highs, California Lows, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA (2010); and Scratching the Surface: Works from the collection of the Nationalgalerie, the Friedrich Christian Flick Collection in the Hamburger Bahnhof and loans, Museum for Contemporary Art, Berlin, Germany (2021). Holt died in 2014 in New York, NY.
