Artist Details

Biography

Painter Morris Graves was born in 1910 in Fox Valley, OR. He has been the subject of many public collections, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art at Champion, Stamford, CT (1998); Art Museum of Southeast Texas, Beaumont, TX (1999); and University of Oregon Museum of Art, Eugene, OR (2003). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including The Spiritual in Art, Los Angeles County Museum, Los Angeles, CA (1985); Flower Paintings, Seattle Art Museum, Seattle, WA (1996); Offerings From the Lake: Morris Graves in the Balabanis Gallery, Morris Graves Museum of Art, Eureka, CA (2001); and Northwest Mythologies: Mark Toby, Morris Graves, Kenneth Callahan and Guy Anderson, Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma, WA (2003-04). Graves died in 2001 in Loleta, CA.
