Multidisciplinary conceptual artist Minerva Cuevas was born in 1975 in Mexico City, Mexico. She graduated in 1997 from Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico City, Mexico. She has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at Museo Nacional de Arte, Mexico City, Mexico (1997); Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, The Netherlands (2008); Museum Ludwig, Cologne, Germany (2021); and Institute of Contemporary Art San Diego, San Diego, CA (2022). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Myself and My Surroundings,The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Montreal, Canada (1999); The Art of Participation: 1950 to Now, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA (2008); México 1900–1950: Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, José Clemente Orozco, and the Avant-Garde, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas, TX (2017); and One Escape at a Time, Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul, South Korea (2021). Cuevas currently lives and works in Mexico City, Mexico.
