Painter Michael Ray Charles was born in 1967 in Lafayette, LA. He received BFA in 1989 from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA and an MFA in 1993 from University of Houston in Houston, TX. He was the subject of a solo exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH (1998). His work has been featured in many group exhibitions, including Diversity in African-American Art, North Harris Community College Houston, TX (1991); Texas Contemporary: Acquisitions of the 90's, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, TX (1993); and Looking Forward Looking Black, Baltimore Museum of Art, Balimore, MD (2002).
