Michael Bill Smith received a BA in Architecture in 1989 from University go Kentucky in Lexington, KY; a BFA in 2002 from the University of Illinois in Chicago, IL; and an MFA in 2011 from School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, IL. Smith has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including Homocular, University of Illinois, Chicago, IL (2002); and Ignorance With Wings, The Lubeznik Center for the Arts, Michigan City, IN (2014). He has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Biennial 26, South Bend Museum of Art, South Bend, IN (2011); Surrealism & War: The Exquisite Corpse Project, National Veterans Art Museum, Chicago, IL (2014); After the Moment: Reflections on Robert Mapplethorpe, Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati, OH (2015); and Contemporary Portrait, Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts, Lubbock, TX (2018).
